Happy Thursday! As I mentioned in my very short post yesterday, I am “Back in the saddle”, so to speak, from a blogging perspective! Bet you’re not as excited as me. 🙂 Today is May 4th (May the 4th Be With You… if you’re one of “Those” people… I know I probably am), and it’s been well over a year since my last post.

So, you’re wondering, “Steve! What’ve you been up to?”. Well, it’s a bit of a lengthy answer. Here goes.

In summary, my family moved from Charlotte, NC to a city just north of Atlanta, GA called Braselton. My wife took a new job (Remember, I am out of work due to the MS-monster) in Atlanta, which was good career move for her, but also brought us closer to her parents. Many of us feel the need to be around our parents as they move along the aging process and this move also addressed that.

Additionally, we still have two kids in college (Senior Year for my middle son and Junior Year for my youngest guy), one out of college and in the restaurant industry and our daughter hit the fourth grade. Good grief.

On the unfortunate side of things, my younger brother was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and my mom had heart valve replacement surgery. Tough times for my side of the family. My brother is doing better than expected and my mom seems to be recovering slowly… but steadily. It’s tough not being closer to them (They are all near Cleveland, Ohio), but I see them as often as I am able. Sad. 🙁

On the MS front, I am happy to report things have been steady. No new progression, which is awesome, and no changes to medication (Which is also awesome). I still have my moments of weirdness, but other than being tired all the time with a bit of dizziness thrown in.. I’m doing ok. Oh, forgot to mention I still have a lot of problems in the memory department. Like almost forgetting to include the memory issues bit in my update. 🙂

Anyway, we moved into our new home last October and are still settling. Change seems to be a bit harder the older you get, but when you have a young kid in the house… you do what you’ve gotta do. Right? I still do my best to stay active. Fortunately, our neighborhood has a full gym and is a friendly place to jog (Ahem! Mostly jogging I should say), so don’t have to drive through Atlanta traffic to get to my workouts. Also, lots of great neighbors, so that helps!

I have signed up to run in the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th. It’s a 10K race, which is about 5K longer than most of the little runs i’ve done in the past. I’m definitely a bit nervous about how long it’s going to take to finish. There are some substantial hills too, which only makes things more… interesting. Right? Oh yes, don’t forget! It’s 4th of July so it’s likely going to be very warm. Remember, MS and heat don’t mix very well. Still, it’s good to have a goal as it keeps me motivated to be active. Guess we’ll see how it goes.

That’s all I’ve got today folks! My next post will be a bit more “MS-y” for those who feel like I missed the mark. It’s been a while and I thought I should provide a bit of a life update!

My next post will likely be the week after next. We’re leaving Monday for our first cruise of the year. Heading to the Bahamas and the cruise lines private island. Good times!

If I get any good pictures, I’ll be sure to share!

Until then…

Steve
