Howdy! Today is Monday, April 13, and it’s another crazy weather day in NC. Woke up around 4am to the winds howling through the trees in the yard! The sound was enough to make me check my phone to make sure there weren’t any tornado warnings! Fortunately, for us at least, it was just a Severe Thunderstorm. We lost some pretty big branches out back with one hitting a strand of lights we have… so, have to get out there and fix that. No biggee! Right? I understand these storms were much more severe to our South and that some people lost their lives in tornados, so I’ll take some downed tree limbs anyway of day the week over that! Sad though.

Anyway… my last post left off where I finally broke down and decided to see a doctor because I was feeling so awful. In the past, I have defaulted to seeing my Neurologist when Im feeling not feeling good, but there isn’t a whole lot the Neurologist does without suggesting an MRI or something along those lines. I know I’ve said it before… but I’ll say it again, “I hate having an MRI!”. 🙁 This time, however, I decided to see my Primary Care Dr., whom I usually see once a year for a physical. Don’t we all?

My Primary Care guy is really good. He’s been my doctor for over 15 years and is conservative when it comes to diagnosing and writing prescriptions… Which I really appreciate. Also, Primary Care Physicians can usually see you within a day or two of needing to schedule an appointment. The same cannot be said of Neurologists and other medical specialists (Im sure). So, after calling the doctors office I was able to get an appointment early the next morning (Awesome!). I arrive for my appointment, after waiting 5 minutes they take me back to my room…. the doctor walks in… asks me what’s going on… and then tells me I need to see my Neurologist. All in record time! I was probably with the doctor less than 5 minutes. 🙂

Actually, I really wasn’t that surprised when he told me to see my Neurologist. The extreme fatigue, dizziness and balance issues I had been experiencing were clearly MS related, but I was trying to blame them on, potentially, low blood pressure. My Primary Doc… simply said.. “No. It’s not low blood pressure”… and that was that.

So, I called my Neurologist to set up an appointment, this was early in November.. and was told the first available appointment would be my regular check-up in mid February. YIKES! Over three months out! I expressed that concern to the scheduler and she said a stand by appointment had just opened up for that afternoon. I thought about it for a minute (My wife was in the office, I had to get my daughter from school, etc.) and initially said “No” because I had too many conflicts. Fortunately, the scheduler pushed it a bit and I ended up saying yes. Thank goodness.

Good grief… another long one. I’ll stop here as I don’t want to get too long! I’ll definitely be able to finish things up next time!

Im not really sure if anyone reading these thinks they are too long? Perhaps a blog is supposed to be a sentence or two? Im not really sure… still… I guess this is more style, so if you’re here… you’ve got live with it. Right?

Stay healthy… until next time!
