Happy Friday! Today is Friday, September 10th, which is a special day around my house as it’s our 27th Wedding Anniversary! Wow… how time flies! So happy to be with an awesome chick like my wife! She definitely pushes me in the right way and keeps our lives active and full of fun stuff… mostly! 🙂 I’m going to be making a nice dinner at home for the two of us and hopefully we’ll be as kid-free as we are able to be!

Also, as always… it’s a beautiful weather day today in Charlotte, NC! The high temperature today is in the low 80’s, so it’s just perfect weather for hanging out! Good Times!

Back to business…. I mentioned in my last post that I’ve been exercising a bit more than usual .. especially considering the timing of my last infusion… and I wanted to get into that a bit more. The primary reason I’ve been exercising more is, well… big surprise!! … I’ve just been feeling a bit more energetic in the mornings! How awesome! Right?

Now, don’t get too excited…. I’m sure trying not to, but it is very cool that for the past three weeks I’ve exercised outdoors (At least to some degree) each day of the week. It’s impactful to me because the exercise I’ve been doing is slow jogging/brisk walking vs my usual quick 20 minutes on a treadmill and a few minutes lifting weights. Yes yes yes…. treadmills and lifting weights are definitely exercise, but if you’ve ever tried plodding along on a treadmill vs the street… there’s a definite difference! Also, lifting weights is very cool and important(DUH!), but it’s slow paced and not something that wears me out. The most interesting piece of this change to routine is it occurred only three days after my last infusion. Coincidence? I don’t know, but it’s pretty interesting!

If you’ve read some of my other posts, you’ll remember the first week or two after my Ocrevus (Disease Modifying Treatment for MS – aka The Drug I Am On!) infusion I’m generally worn out and grumpy. After this latest infusion I WAS definitely fatigued and tired for two days, but after that… I don’t know… I just told myself to get up and get a walk in. So I did. Not just that, the walk felt too slow so I thought to myself, “Self… why don’t we try jogging to the stop sign?”… So I did! 🙂 And it’s just continued on from there. Weird huh? I thought so… for sure!

This week I set a goal to jog/walk 3 miles each day and guess what? Goal accomplished! It hasn’t been easy, but I stuck to it and made sure I hit that mark before walking up the driveway! Cooler mornings have been super helpful as well and even though I’m not setting any land speed records, I’ve been able to jog just about as much as I walk… and that’s cool. In the coming weeks maybe I’ll even be able to push past that 15 minute mile mark (This is turtle speed if you didnt know)? Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. 🙂

My Neurologist mentioned that “some” people with MS can see “slight improvements” in symptoms once they are on Ocrevus, so maybe that’s it? Folks on Ocrevus know it’s a drug designed to Halt MS Progression or Help Maintain Current State (No new symptoms), but conversations about improvements… well… they are generally met with quite a bit of skepticism. I guess I’ll have to check with my Neuro during an upcoming appointment. Not going to hold my breath or anything, but I’m truly hoping I’ll be able to maintain this new routine! Maybe another “Mud Run” can be in my future? We’ll see…

It would be great if future infusions can help with dizziness and brain fog! 🙂 One can always hope!

That’s it for today! Hope everyone has a great weekend and I’ll talk to you next week!
