Hello! Today is Thursday, October 8th (Yes… still cant believe it’s October), and the weather is BEE-U-TEA-FUL in North Carolina. 🙂 Mid 70’s not a cloud in the sky. I love the Fall! Definitely my favorite time of the year!
So, as the title of this post states, today is an MRI day. 🙁 I know I’ve mentioned numerous times in numerous posts that I don’t like getting MRIs, but unfortunately… it’s a bit of a requirement so I don’t really have a choice. Oh well. Today’s MRI will be of my brain and upper spinal chord. That means… I’ll be trapped in that crazy machine for about 2 1/2 hours. It sucks.
Granted, the doctor prescribed a mild valium-ish type of thing that… well… even though I take it… doesn’t really seem to help. The first hour or so of being in the machine isn’t so bad, but then the time just starts dragging and dragging. I happen to be one of those unfortunate people whose mind starts going about a million miles an hour and… well (Again)… it just makes it hard to be perfectly still. Heck, the MRI technicians will even break in once in a while to say things like, “Please stop breathing so hard”. Of course, I’d like to respond with, “Build a better machine that doesn’t take so dang long”, but … of course… I can’t.
The purpose of today’s MRI is to see how well my new medicine is working. If the disease (I have MS… if you’ve forgotten :)… has progressed, then maybe this newer, stronger drug isn’t the one for me (… see “anxiety in the midst of MRI tube” issue..). Also, the doctors can, I believe, also check to make sure there aren’t any signs of an infection called PML (Yes, that’s the acronym and No… I am not going to type out of the name of that insanely long word). PML is a very dangerous infection that people on some immuno-suppressant drugs are susceptible to. Ocrevus has not been show to cause PML, but it’s not something to mess around with. It’s one of the reasons I agreed to an MRI even though I just did one last December.
Oh well… I’m guessing I sound a bit like a crybaby, but that’s bound to happen once in a while. I cannot wait for today to be over! My MRI starts around 4 today, so hopefully I’ll be home around 7. Wish me luck! 🙂
Talk to you soon!
