Hey people! Happy Friday! Like the title of my post? I was attempting to emulate the Eagles song… “Just another tequila sunrise” (I believe that’s who wrong/sang the song)… but quarantine and tequila just don’t have the same ring to them. Right? 🙂 It’s May 15th and it appears Spring/Early Summer temperatures are finally hitting the Carolinas consistently! Its about time! Lows in the 40’s-50’s are for winter months around here!
So, still in quarantine here in Charlotte, NC and the rest of NC. As a result, my wife and I are heading to SC tomorrow to float down the Catawba River on some tubes. We’ll be joining some friends and, for the most part, we should be enjoying each others company from a smart distance. There are so MANY CONFLICTING stories on the news about what we SHOULD BE DOING that… well.. think we’re just going to start doing our own thing. Life must go on!
That last sentence is pretty meaningful… right? Life Must Go On! Or, perhaps it’s more appropriate to say that, “Life Goes On”… whether we really want it to or not. We can choose to be spectators and sit on the sidelines and hope/wish that nothing bad happens… or we can stand up, go outside and.. see what happens! I used to tell my sons that all of the scars on my legs from running into fences, bushes, cars (i.e. That’s a very lengthy list so i’ll stop) meant that I had a great childhood! My biggest scars always remind of something that happened in my life… whether they are physical, spiritual or mental. Without those scars my past would be like a big grey screen with no real lows… but also no great highs!
My MS journey so far has resulted in quite a few scars… some that make me smile and others that make me cringe! Will Corona be one of those mental scars that I look back on and say, “What was I thinking?” or “Why didn’t I…?”.
We all have choices to make and all choices have consequences either good or bad (Cause and effect is what I’d call it in the business world). Making the “safe” decision may be the best one every now and then, but I would argue it could also lead to a life that hasn’t been lived to it’s fullest. Take a chance! Hug someone… then run and wash your hands if you need to! Or don’t hug anyone, stay home and watch the news until you never want to leave your house again!
Choices people. We can “Seize the day” (Carpe diem) as Robin Williams once said… or… we can mosey and posey our way through and hope nothing ever happens. Choices and consequences! 🙂 Good Times!
My next blog I’ll try to get back to some true MS stuff vs just my meanderings… 🙂
Be safe everyone and have a great, safe weekend!
