Hey Peeps! Today is Saturday, March 14th, and it’s a rather nice day in NC! I realize I only had one post this week, but I am in the process of creating a “Real Blog” with my own .com address that doesn’t require using “Blogspot” in between! I think I’ll have more options to make things pretty and aesthetically pleasing (Yes, I am familiar with at least a few big words!).
So, Corona Virus is BIG news… wait.. HUGE news… ummm… GIGANTIC NEWS! Like GODZILLA BIG NEWS! A report from the CDC suggests that we could see over 1 MILLION PEOPLE DIE FROM CORONA IN THE US! That’s awful and unsettling… completely! 🙁
While my family isn’t watching tons of TV (To do our part in combatting the hype), it’s obvious that many of us are super concerned! And, we should be! We should be washing our hands and limiting our exposure to large crowds.. especially where the virus has been reported (And maybe even where the virus hasn’t been reported)! In more extreme measures, I’ve heard of folks voluntarily quarantining themselves, for who knows how long, to make sure they aren’t spreading the virus… but they don’t even know if they have it or not! Drive-thru’s are being set-up so folks who are super anxious to find out if they have Corona can do so… whether they are symptomatic or not! Go figure.
I visited two stores today to buy stuff to make Reuben’s (Tuesday is St. Patrick’s Day.. after all) and, while the stores were not emptied of all food, there was no toilet paper (Does Corona make us use the bathroom more? I think that may be an urban legend, but who knows), no bleach wipes or hand sanitizer and staples like soup and rice were basically all gone!
Good grief. Is common sense a thing of the past? Are we buying more stuff than we’ll be able to use in two years? What about families in need of essentials that.. well.. just won’t be available? Can we be prepared without going complete overboard? I don’t know…
All I can say is, I hope everyone stays as healthy as possible and does what the CDC, or their doctor, recommends vs the media. These are scary times and watching too much TV right now, at least from my biased perspective, is not increasing our knowledge, but adding to paranoia and hysteria.
I am hopeful that things will start settling down by my next post and that America will not be in as much trouble as we’re hearing, but I guess we’ll just have to see!
Take care Y’all!
